MEMOIR
Denai Grace Seacombe-Fuller,
Tonacatoci
Denai Grace was born in the old colonial capital of Belize City, British Honduras. Arriving to the drum beats of September 10, 1969 Battle of St. George's Caye carnival parades, she made an entrance with two front teeth and newborn (pseudo)menstruation.
The midwife declared her to be a seer thus sealing her fate & future.
Although the Creole culture was not nearly as rich as the Maya and Garifuna tribes in spiritual matters, they certainly had their superstitions and Denai’s birth was marked as something auspicious by the family.
She subsequently grew up in the deserts of Nevada amidst the silent background of the Piaute, Moapa and Shoshone Native Americans. Always drawn to their presence and power, this land would lay the framework for her desire to walk the Sac’Bey, the White Road (aka the Red Road).
Early in her adult life, she was led to the spiritual teachings of the Dine', the Holy People, which further led her to seek out
the indigenous spiritual practices of Central America.
From pursuing studying with indigenous healers to immersing herself in temezcals & plant medicine initiations, Denai has steeped herself in Meso-American Spiritualism for her entire adult life, transcending her religious Catholic upbringing.
In December 2015, during a pilgrimage to the basilica of Lady Guadalupe in Mexico City, she earned a name initiation with the Tlatlatzinc Tribe of Mexico City. She carried this spirtual name for nine years until she initiated into her second Nahuatl name.
Tonacatoci, which means the Grandmother of Sustenance,
continues to study, learn and practice
the ancient ways of EARTH’S traditional folk healers.
In the rainforests of Belize, she learned the indigenous techniques of spiritual bathing. This technique relies heavily on prayer, smudging, reading pulses and the power of the flowers and plants. As a professional flower essence practitioner, trained with the Flower Essence Society in Nevada City, California, this teaching was simply food for the soul.
Over the course of her life, in addition to being the mother of six wonderful children, she has studied with renown healers such as Dr. Rosita Arvigo, Sergio Magana, Alma & Xolotl Martinez, Melissa Goodblanket & Ambika Wauters,
bringing a host of offerings to assist you in your healing & spiritual journey.
In 2021, Denai became a Moondancer in the California Moondance, Chicuauhtlimetztli, the dance of the owl,
a Mexica tradition of women dancing their prayers under the moon,
guided carefully her Madrina, Abuela Pamela Espinoza, an Elder of the lineage.
Relocated, in 2011, from the beautiful islands of Caye Caulker, Belize to the picturesque mountain town of Ashland, Oregon,
she is available for sessions by appointment and for classes by registration.
