Join this storytelling experience with copalli, the sacred resin of Mesoamerica, that has been with the people since their inception, to experience la medicina as it is offered through direct interaction with the four elements of earth, air, fire and water.
Come hear the remarkable story from the Popul Vuh, the Maya Book of Life, of Ix’Kik, Blood Moon, speaking with the copal tree as it offers her its assistance to avoid death in the Mictlans from the Underworld Lords who had demanded her beating heart as their next sacrifice
Drink copal tea, while blindfolded, as you receive the sacred smudge, the holy water aspersions, the heat of the fire of the copalera and the anointing from the copal oil
This beautiful ceremony comes from the Yucatan region of Mexico and is practiced by the indigenous in that area to celebrate life and to walk across new crossroads in one’s life. It is well known that copal awakens memories of who we are and where we come from, it helps us establish our true relationship with the creation and everything in the cosmos and galaxy, with Earth and all living things that inhabit this place. Copal allows us to harmoniously stay within the circle of life. It is like drinking a cup of ancestral light, left for us by the ancestors.
In this 2.5 hour offering, you will have an opportunity to deepen your relationship with the sacrificial blood of the trees: copalli.
This ceremony will be held live at the People’s Apothecary in Bend, Oregon on May 22nd at 6pm-8pm. Only 10 seats are available.
